Where Are They Now? Project Featuring Joanna Wheeler ’12
Featuring: Joanna Wheeler, Class of 2012
The Where Are They Now? project is jumpstarting its series with a recent alumna. Graduating in 2012, Joanna Wheeler majored in Art History while at Bucknell. Her legacy is well- remembered, thus making her a great fit for our first feature. Joanna Wheeler now works at Sotheby’s Art Auction House in New York City where she manages the Modern and Impressionist and Contemporary Art Evening Sales Ticket Office.
Internships: Marie Claire Magazine, Arts for Transit, Sotheby’s Art Auction House
During her collegiate experience at Bucknell, Joanna completed three internships. She started interning as a Fashion Intern at Marie Claire Magazine during the summer of her sophomore year. She worked under the Marketing Editor and it was here where she learned and strengthened some basic PR skills. The following summer she interned at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Arts for Transit Dept. New York City. Joanna was able to work closely with her supervisors and research artists for upcoming public art projects, like the Grand Central 2013 Centennial Project. Lastly, she was afforded the opportunity to work her “dream” internship at Sotheby’s Art Auction House the summer of 2011, where she worked in the European Works of Art Dept. Ultimately, completing the Sotheby’s internship helped her secure her current position at the auction house.
Post- Graduation: Client Service Representative at Sotheby’s Art Auction House
In March of her senior year, Joanna was offered a position in the Floater program at Sotheby’s Art Auction House. She was a floater from August 2012- November 2012; during this time, she worked in Client Services. In November, she was offered a permanent position as a Client Service Representative.
– Masters: As of right now, Joanna does not have her Masters. Depending on the career path that she chooses, it may become necessary to receive her Master’s degree.
