Join us for the opening reception of Cosmic Harmonies: Kenneth V. Young, a solo exhibition exploring the artistic evolution of Washington Color School painter Kenneth V. Young (1933–2017). Featuring works from three major phases of the artist’s career, the exhibition examines how Young’s interest in the interconnectedness of nature, the cosmos, and music shaped his distinctive approach to abstraction. Enjoy a live jazz performance by The Earth Time Band while you view the exhibition, with light refreshments provided.
Biography:
The Earth Time Band is a collective of central PA jazz musicians who come together to celebrate global events like the Winter Solstice, the Summer Solstice and Earth Day. The core members are part of the Galen Grant trio which include Steve Adams (Williamsport Jazz Orchestra, Dave Liebman/Phil Haynes, Kimbo’s Allstars) on piano, and Bill Stetz (Taylor Fleming, Tussey Mountain Moonshiners, Ann Kerstetter Band)) on upright bass. Drawing inspiration from the jazz innovators of the 60’s and 70’s, the group plays a diverse repertoire of fusion and modern jazz along with some post-bop standards. The rhythms, cycles, and creativity of our planet is reflected in The Earth Time Band’s music..come join us for the sonic adventure.
