The Samek Art Gallery is pleased to announce a curator’s talk with Director, Richard Rinehart on September 18th from 6:00-7:00 pm in the Gallery Theatre. Rinehart will discuss the ZERO 1 Biennial set in San Jose, CA and the simultaneous exhibition Seeking Silicon Valley on view at the Samek Art Gallery.

ZERO 1 is described as an event, “where art meets technology to shape the future.” The Biennial is comprised of creative minds from interdisciplinary backgrounds in order to showcase how art and innovation can mirror technological developments and strategy. ManifestAR is an international artists’ collective working with emergent forms of augmented reality as interventionist public art. Seeking Silicon Valley illustrates the concept of augmented reality- contemporary places of non-sites that question our ability as viewer and audience to answer, “Where Are You Now?”

The Samek Art Gallery will be partnering with MANIFEST.AR to exhibit site-specific work that can simultaneously be viewed in Lewisburg, PA and the Silicon Valley. Participants can view each work from their smart phones, revealing an alternate state of the area in front of you, encouraging us to re-imagine these spaces we occupy, and in turn, what occupies them.

Director/Curator, Rinehart will attend the ZERO1 Biennial and “report back” the latest in contemporary media as seen in San Jose. The Samek Art Gallery invites members of the community to participate in this discussion of new media and augmented realities.

After the curator’s talk, the Samek invites attendees to experience Seeking Silicon Valley for themselves in the gallery. A reception will follow; light fare and drinks to be served. Free to the public.
