October 31st, Halloween Night in Downtown Lewisburg
Trick-or-Treat at the Downtown Art Gallery: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Candy corn, avante-garde film and Art- oh my!
The Downtown Art Gallery invites you to Trick-or-Treating at the Gallery! Join us on the steps of the historic DeWitt Building (located at 416 Market Street) from 5:00-7:00pm for some sugary sweets. Dress to impress in your finest costume and stop in to the main gallery and view the best treat of all, Kenneth Tin-Kin Hung: The Travelogue of Dr. Brain Damages.
Beginning at 7:00pm, the Video Window at the Downtown Art Gallery will feature Ghosts Before Breakfast a short film by Hans Richter. This 1920s film will play on a repeated loop until Midnight and can be viewed from the street.
Ghosts Before Breakfast is considered to be one of the first surrealistic films. Expect the unexpected in this rhythmic movie where people, clocks, ladders, even hats undergo humorous and irrational happenings. Enter Richter’s world of fantasy; a place where top hats can fly on their own accord and men disappear behind a street lamps, in this ten minute silent film.
The perfect compliment to an evening of Halloween festivities, enjoy the Arts along Market Street (and a little candy too!)
