Introducing Rachel Linnemann: Preparator and Operations Coordinator

2013-06-27 19.19.39_2Having recently graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a BA in Studio Arts and a minor in psychology, I knew that my life was about to change. The obvious change being from student to young professional. However, upon graduation I did not necessarily see myself moving over 8 hours from home, which is exactly what I have done. The last 23 years of my life I have been Rachel Linnemann, proud resident of Cincinnati, Ohio. Now with this new chapter in my life I am now the Preparator and Operations Coordinator for the Samek Art Gallery. Some might think that moving away from an urban area might mean moving away from the arts. However, Bucknell’s gallery is quite the treasure with over 5,000 pieces in its permanent collection. Having a background in fine art ranging in woodworking to painting, I was enthused to see a position become available in the installation department of the Gallery. Not only does this role let me explore the inner workings of a gallery, but it also allows me to handle and appreciate artwork that is normally behind closed doors. Being an artist, I feel compelled to work with my hands and surround myself with art. This role allows me to do just that. I am excited for the opportunities that this position provides and to become a team member of such a great University.
