The Gallery Engagement Team will be hosting their second event of the semester; “G.E.T. Treats in the Samek”, as its advertised, will be on October 31st – yes the day of Halloween- from 12- 1 pm. The Samek Art Gallery is on the third floor of the LC.
So what makes this event stand out from the rest? “G.E.T. Treats in the Samek” has free candy, free pumpkins, new works of art in the on-going exhibition DO IT and a music playlist created by our very own DJ Doug Bogan.
Quick Facts about the Event:
1. Free Candy: This event is on Halloween which means eating mini Snickers and mini Twix bars are a must. Why not get your fill here?
2. Free Pumpkins to the first 30 visitors: Again, this event is on Halloween and we all know you have procrastinated on getting a pumpkin for the holiday. Not only can you get a free small pumpkin, but your pumpkin is coming from a crowd favorite, the pumpkin patches at Ards! Make sure you come up fast, there is a limited amount of them!
3. DO IT exhibition: Since our last event, there has been 4 more works of art added to this on-going exhibition and therefore new pieces to check out. Haven’t seen this exhibition? Definitely come and check out the contemporary, conceptually innovative exhibit that has gotten Bucknell stars to contribute. See works of art executed by President Bravman, Mr. and Mrs. Samek, and even the docents of the gallery!
*ALSO* Do not forget to bring something red!! One of the works of art in DO IT allows the visitor to engage with the art. Simply bring a red object to place in the grid. The grid will eventually fill up with red objects left by visitors over the past couple of months. Many visitors have already contributed to this work of art and you should too! So bring that red lipstick, necklace, or pen and be apart of the fun.
4. Music by DJ Doug Bogan: As always, our very own DJ will provide a great mash up of songs to celebrate the free candy, pumpkins, art, and of course Halloween!
