Last week, I had the pleasure of attending and representing the Samek Art Museum at the Currents new media festival in Santa Fe. The program consisted of two days of meeting with curators, conservators, collectors, artists and New Mexico public officials about current research and projects aimed at allowing collectors and museums to preserve new media art. This culminated in a public session at the festival summarizing and engaging the public in this discussion. The Samek Art Museum is currently researching adding new media works to our collection for which research like this visit are essential and it puts Bucknell at the table for these discussions about this digital moment at the cusp of history.
