The Samek Art Museum is focused on creating meaningful encounters with works of art that educate and enhance the lives of Bucknell students and the community. Where and how these encounters take shape can stem from a variety of sources: the classroom, a walk through the quad, or even around a meal. The Samek Art Museum has created different spaces to promote the free exchange of ideas and the common connection of conversation.

The Samek Art Museum Downtown is located in the historic DeWitt Building, sits within the heart of Lewisburg. As a new addition to the Bucknell community, this gallery aims to serve as a learning lab for curatorial experimentation and a public programing partnership with other arts organizations in Lewisburg
Study Gallery

Located off the Campus location, the Study Gallery is a program of the Samek Art Museum that encourages collective thinking. Bucknell faculty and Samek staff collaborate, selecting objects from the permanent collection that relate to course syllabi to be displayed for an entire semester. This partnership between gallery and administration allows for classes to be held within the Study Gallery. Interested in selecting art for your class? Museum Collections Study Room

This room, available by appointment, is considered a hub for all permanent collection-based resources and materials. It serves as the main source for information on the museum’s permanent collection. The Museum Collections Study Room is available for Bucknell students, faculty, and researchers to view works and related materials from our permanent collection. Kress Collection
In the Campus location, Top Floor, Elaine Langone Center
The Samuel H. Kress Foundation donated more than 700 Old Master paintings of late Medieval/Early Renaissance works to regional museums in eighteen American cities during the 1950s. Another 200 paintings were divided into study collections for twenty-three colleges and universities. Bucknell University received a gift of 20 of these masterworks that were accessioned into the Samek Art Museum collection. Those on view have recently been conserved and preserved, allowing these historic treasures to be studied and enjoyed by generations to come.
