We are pleased to announce a new community and student curatorial project at the Samek Art Museum over the next two years. This project is supported by a generous grant from the Maurer Family Foundation.
The Samek Museum Student Curatorial Education Project will foster community interaction with Bucknell University students and will more strongly connect the greater Susquehanna Valley communities to the arts, challenging both of these constituencies to deepen their engagement with the visual arts while giving them more authorship in driving the Samek’s exhibitions and programs.
The aim of this project is to enhance the voice of townspeople and Bucknell students, and to ultimately conceive of, and display a themed exhibition at the Samek Downtown Gallery. To accomplish this, the Samek will hold student-led workshops with regional community members to facilitate a dialogue about their connection to and understanding of art, and to discuss and examine issues they feel strongly about. This pilot project will culminate in a student / community curated exhibition at the Downtown Gallery in the summer of 2018.
Stay tuned for more information as the exhibition takes shape.
