The Samek Art Gallery depends on the generosity of its patrons. The cost of organizing national and international exhibitions, supporting them with fine scholarly publications, and strengthening the permanent collection are made possible by funds from our patrons. If you support the mission of the Samek, we invite you to support us.
Samek Art Gallery Funds
Donations of funds may be made through University Relations (“Make a Gift Online, Samek Art Museum“ under “other” for designation). Funds Designated to the Samek Art Gallery are used to support the mission of the Samek.
Samek Collection Funds
There are two ways to support strengthening the collection:
- donating funds for acquisitions
- donating museum quality works of art.
For more on donating funds to the collection, see the “Membership” link on this site, which describes benefits you receive at different giving levels.
Gifts of Works of Art
Gifts of fine works of art strengthens the collection for the benefit of Bucknell students, the university community and regional audience. Please view the artists and categories listed in the below wish list for more on collection needs. If you have museum quality works of art you would like to donate, or if you have any questions, contact us.
The collection needs to grow by strengthening areas with substantial holdings, expanding holdings in areas with select fine works of art, and developing strengths in underrepresented areas. Collection strengths include: Modern and contemporary Western art, primarily in works on paper, Japanese decorative objects, and prints by James Gillray. Areas represented by select fine works of art include: Baroque and renaissance painting, pre- 20th century European prints, 20th century American photographs, European photographs, Early modern, Contemporary Latin American, and a small ancient Western study collection. Underrepresented areas include: 19th and early 20th century photography, contemporary art by non-western artists, modern and contemporary art by women, and emerging media.
